Coxheath & Farleigh started their under 9 premier campaign in style with a convincing away win at South Park Colts. In the first game they overran their opponents with a slick passing game and cruised to a 6-0 win, with a hatrick from man of the match Jordan Smith, two from Kane Butler and a fine free kick from Robbie Smith from outside the area.
The second game was a closer affair with South Park hitting the post and Coxheath's Lewis Page clearing off the line, eventually the away team moved ahead with another goal from Kane Butler and a second from Ethan Matthews.
An impressive start from Coxheath & Farleigh! |

It was honours even at Vinters Park, as the home side and Coxheath shared one win a piece. Against the run of play Vinters scored from distance, after that Coxheath were unable to break down their well marshaled defense. Coxheath started the second game well and took an early lead with a goal from Zach Osborne, the away side continued to press with two goals from man of the match Robbie Smith, both of which saw him take on and beat a number of Vinters defenders and curl the ball in from out side the box, Jordan Smith added a well deserved fourth. |

Remember, Remember The 5th Of November
Whilst the Coxheath & Farleigh players will cherish their memories of this match Wateringbury Juniors may wish to forget some parts of this 5th November, particularly the 0-5 and 0-4 score lines. However they can savour the way in which they continually battled, forcing Coxheath to produce some fine passing football in order to beat them. The first goal came early in the first half. A Robbie Smith throw-in, was headed on by Zach Osborne and coolly finished by Lewis Page from the edge of the box. Encouraged by the goal Coxheath pushed Bury further back with some precise passing, eventually finding Page on the left wing, who crossed into the box for Smith to thump the ball past the keeper. Coxheath’s passing stood out, particularly the pinpoint 30yrd pass from Lewis Midwinter, out of defense to Osborne on the right wing, who controlled and shifted the ball wining a free kick in the process. Smith, taking the free kick, found his team mate, Jordan Smith, who slotted home from close range for Heath’s third of the morning.
The fourth goal came through fine individual skills from Kane Butler, linking in from the right wing and scoring from an acute angle. Butler scored again shortly after, this time on the break from the left hand side, bearing down on the keeper and tucking his shot away to the right.
The second game saw two goals from Man of the Match Ethan Matthews, the first chipping the keeper from just outside the box and the second a casual side foot from close range. Butler & Smith were the other scorers with a goal a piece, each supplying the other with the telling pass.
It was not all one way traffic, stiff resistance was shown by the all of the Wateringbury players, the #15 and #10 both had excellent opportunities to score in both games but were foiled by some commanding defensive work from Louis Frost, William Kelly & Midwinter as well as some outstanding saves from Chad Money between the sticks. |

Coxheath & Farleigh: Jordan Smith (c)(17 - Game 1), Chandler Money (gk), Robbie Smith, Lewis Page, Zach Osborne, Kane Butler (15 - Game 2), Louis Frost, William Kelly, Lewis Midwinter, Ethan Matthews.
Man of the Match: Zach Osborne
A minutes silence was held in memory of the great George Best prior to a game that harked back to those halcyon days. Physical challenges, aggressive tackles, individual skill, solid team play, dubious decisions and crowd disquiet were all on display, the only missing elements were 20” flares and wickedly long side burns.
There cant be many teams who visit Borough and match them for physical aggression, there are fewer who can outwit them with craft, skill and awareness, yet this is exactly what Coxheath did throughout both games.
The first half started evenly and with the exception of a fine shot by Heath’s Jordan Smith, which hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced out, the half ended honours even.
Heath came out strongly in the second half and secured the lead when Lou Page beat his man on the left to lay the ball off for Jordan Smith to emphatically drill home.
The lead was maintained and controlled calmly by Heath who prevented Green from having a single shot on target, indeed the defence provided by Midwinter and Kelly ensured that Green’s only shot was a high, wide and not so handsome effort from some twenty yards out.
The second game continued in the same vein, Heath attacked through Kane Butler on the right wing and crossed into the box, the cross was intercepted at the bye line before reaching team mate Robbie Smith who rammed the ball into the net. The Borough referee blew his whistle, turned on his heel and pointed to the centre circle. Before the ref could take two paces, Borough officials and supporters entered the pitch to berate their man. A heated discussion took place; the referee capitulated to the pressure and disallowed the goal.
The Heath players could not be thrown by such biased shenanigans and showed the greater desire to succeed against the odds. Butler settled the argument in the second half with a smartly taken goal from a Smith corner.
Money, Frost and Man of the Match Zach Osborne, the Heath defence, marshalled the game thoroughly to the end to ensure that Borough were certainly “Green” at seeing Heath stroll off with all six points. |

Man of the Match: William Kelly
On the coldest match day of the season thus far Aylesford drew the first and lost the second match to Coxheath & Farleigh.
The first game was an even affair with both teams struggling to find their rhythm in the biting cold. Coxheath struck midway through the first half when Jordan Smith volleyed a Butler cross from the right wing.
Aylesford hit back in the second half when Heath fluffed repeated attempts to clear the ball from their box. Despite constant attacks from both teams the game finished 1:1.
Heath applied the chill factor in the second game when Kelley's slide rule pass found Smith bearing down on the keeper; he kept his head and tucked the ball past the advancing goalie. Butler scored the second, slotting home after some neat passing play.
The second half brought two more goals, firstly from Ethan Mathews who found himself in front of an open goal after the Aylesford keeper had come for a Butler cross only to be grasping fresh air.
The fourth and final goal was a virtuoso delight from Robbie Smith, jinking from midfield past the Aylesford defence before bulging the net from some 20 yards out, just what the day needed an ice cool finish. |

A splendid team performance from Coxheath & Farleigh secured all six points in their first match of the New Year.
Vinters were under pressure from the start when the Heath players demonstrated their ability to pass the ball and support each other across the pitch. Vinters withstood wave after wave of attacking flair before Robbie Smith rammed the ball home from the edge of the Vinters box.
Despite being a goal to the good Heath continued to press Vinters back in their half and immediately won a corner from the right hand side, Smith swung the corner kick into the goalmouth forcing the Vinters keeper into an error which resulted in the second goal.
The second half continued in the same vein, Heath passed the ball around the pitch probing away at the Vinters defence trying to create further chances on goal. The Vinters keeper, Robert Holland, pulled off some excellent saves as Butler, Page, Kelley and both Smiths repeatedly placed good shots on target.
Whilst the Vinters defence worked diligently trying to shut Heath out they conceded a free kick just outside of the box. Smith whipped in the ball and Butler slotted in for the third goal.
As the game neared the end Vinters took a consolation goal created by some fine play from their midfield and Whiffin finished neatly from inside the Heath box.
The second game saw a more robust and resilient Vinters who proved more able to snuff out the Heath attacks and push forward on the counter.
Joshua Smith scored for Vinters, picking the ball up on the half way line and running at the Heath defence tucking the ball away to Money’s right.
Heath continued to attack and struck the Vinters cross bar twice before half time yet they could not find a way through the strengthened defence.
The breakthrough finally came midway through the second half when Man of the Match, Robbie Smith crossed to Jordan Smith who poked the ball past the outstanding Holland.
With the scores level Heath could smell a victory and having secured the ascendancy they kept all seven Vinters players deep in their own half before creating the opening for the winning goal.
Fine passing unlocked the defence and presented Page with space and time to drill the ball into the net, which he duly did, thus ensuring that his team continue to breath down the necks of the division leaders, Larkfield Boys, who Heath face next week in the second round of the Cup. |

‘Clash of the Premier Division Titans’ was the billing for this round 2 Challenge Cup double header that saw Coxheath deliver a home team knock out.
Two fantastic games of football started with Larkfield Boys pressing Heath backwards during the opening action and scoring in the third minute. The scorer, Alfie Kit, struck a beautiful goal from distance as he picked up a rebounded corner.
Coxheath didn’t give up; after withstanding the opening onslaught from Larkfield’s searing play they began to make some of the passes stick and to apply their authority. So much so that Heath equalised on the stroke of half time when the Larkfield keeper could do no more than help the ball over the line when under pressure from a Heath corner.
The second half started fairly evenly with both teams attacking at every opportunity, before Robbie Smith scored a great goal on the counter attack for Coxheath.
The goal spurred Heath on as they began to take the territorial advantage. Man of the Match, Lewis Page scored the third goal, tucking away a truly splendid shot from an acute angle with his weaker foot.
End to end attacking continued for the remainder of the match with both teams carving out good chances only to be foiled by a selection of stout defending, excellent goalkeeping, solid goal posts or pants shooting.
Larkfield turned up the wick in the second game and again snatched an early goal, Alfie Kit scoring again, with an un-stoppable shot to make it 2-3 on aggregate
Quality football from both teams kept the spectators on the edge of their nonexistent seats as the game moved into the last half.
Slowly Coxheath began to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, pressing the play before Butler struck the net from a Smith corner in the closing minutes to seal the win 2-4 and scupper any Larkfield hopes of forcing the penalty shoot out.
So Coxheath & Farleigh march on to the next round however they will be wary of a Larkfield backlash when they meet in the league two weeks hence. |

Coxheath & Farleigh: Jordan Smith (c), Chandler Money (gk), Robbie Smith, Zach Osborne, Kane Butler, Louis Frost, Lewis Page, William Kelly, Lewis Midwinter.
Man of the Match: Robbie Smith
Being Coxheath's "bogey" side over the past two seasons and the last team to beat the form side of the league, MPE had every right to expect something from this fixture.
However the Heath Machine is on a roll, unbeaten in their last fifteen games with only 8 goals conceded and 34 scored. They were of a mind to extend the run and to dash MPE's hopes, this they duly did with two excellent 4-0 wins.
After a cagey start Man of the Match Robbie Smith opened Heaths account, scoring the first of six goals. Smith's opening two goals were similar affairs, breaking through an MPE defence that was holding high up the pitch, bearing down on the keeper and coolly slotting the ball home.
The third goal whilst clinically finished by Smith was solely attributable to Lewis Page, being quick of mind stealing the ball from a goal kick then calmly whipping in a cross for the in rushing striker.
The fourth goal came in the second half, again from Smith, this time from a penalty after the Ref penalised the MPE defence for pulling down the menacing Kane Butler.
Heath's solid team play continued in the second game creating an early goal expertly finished by Butler from the right wing.
Impressive passing football from Coxheath supplied the second goal when William Kelly's through ball put Smith in to fire past the keeper.
MPE twice penetrated Heath's defence early in the second half and with better luck could have found the net; however Heath shrugged off the mistake and set about the third goal, in a faultless move the ball flowed from defence, through midfield and into the path of the charging Butler who on the volley lashed the ball into the goal.
Smith bagged his last of the day when midfield dynamo Jordan Smith fed a perfectly weighted pass into the path of his team mate.
Whilst MPE passed the ball well they could not capitalise and Coxheath walked away with all six points to maintain the pressure on the league leaders. |

Man of the Match: Zach Osborne
Coxheath & Farleigh progress to the Challenge Cup Semi-Finals after knocking out Holtwood Rangers by a 2:0 aggregate score line.
Heath attacked from the whistle, testing what proved to be an obdurate and disciplined Holtwood defence.
The only goal of the first game came in the 10th minute when Jordan Smith made a late run from midfield, latching on to a Robbie Smith layoff before driving into the box and calmly slotting the ball past an outstretched McCoy.
Despite the waves of Heath attacks Holtwood kept their composure and maintained an excellent work rate to prevent Heath from scoring further and could have snatched an equaliser on the break if not for a fantastic save from Heath keeper Chad Money.
The second game contained another goalless half as Holtwood kept numbers behind the ball and invited Heath to break them down.
Heath set about the task eminently, passing the ball fluently when in attack and shutting out Holtwood whenever they took possession.
Clinical defending from Alex Collins-Smith and class keeping from McCoy prevented numerous attempts on goal from Robbie Smith, Zach Osborne and Lewis Page as Heath probed away seeking just reward for their excellent passing play.
Heath's efforts came to fruition in the 2nd minute of the second half when Man of the Match Zach Osborne, having switched to the left wing, received a precise through ball from Kelley, tricked Collins-Smith on the left hand side of the box and slipped the ball to Page who duly rammed home.
Heath pressured Holtwood constantly for the remainder of the match and should have added to their tally as Osborne, Page, Butler and Smith came agonisingly close only to see either a Holtwood interception, clearance or save prevent them. |

Man of the Match: Jordan Smith
Although Swale Magpies ended Coxheath & Farleigh’s 17 match unbeaten run Heath proudly stand at the top of the league after earning three points from this mornings efforts.
Heath, a point ahead of Larkfield, have now played the same number of games and promise to make the race for the title a tense, nerve jangling affair.
Heath started well, attacking from the kick off and forcing a corner. The following twelve minutes were full of attacking play from Heath as they sought to break down the Magpies defence; however, Heath could not find a way through despite many attempts and several goalmouth scrambles.
Swale came out for the second half in determined fashion and as the contest became more physical Swale found the ability to counter effectively, with their striker holding the ball well and bringing others into play. The Magpies proved a stern test for Midwinter, Kelley and Money in the Heath defence.
The goal came in the 22nd minute as Swale scored from the right wing after some good work from their attacking players. Whilst Heath rallied in the last two minutes and pressed Swale back, they could not find a way through. Swale nicked the win while Heath rued the glaring misses of the first half.
The physical side of the contest increased in the second game as Swale showed grit and determination in shutting Heath out of the game. This tactic worked until the 6th minute when Osborne, before being clattered, managed to play a fine through ball sending Robbie Smith in on goal, the Swale keeper could do no more than parry Smith’s forceful shot into the path of the in-rushing Butler who kept his cool and fired past the keeper.
The second Goal came just two minutes later when Smith, Osborne and Butler had all taken shots at the Magpies goal, each accepting the rebound from the previous shot. Finally, the ball rebounded to Man of the Match Jordan Smith running in from the centre circle. Sizing the ball up as he sprinted forward Smith let rip from 25yds and admired his work as the ball fizzed through the crowd and bulged the net, a worthy addition to the “goal of the season” short list.
Swale showed greater strength still in the second half as the tackles continued to fly in, stifling Heath’s natural game and condensing the space on the pitch. Both teams had chances to add to the score line most notably Page, Smith & Butler for Coxheath and Wisby for Swale but none could beat either teams excellent goalkeepers.
Heath Team Manager Jose Money congratulated the boys on reaching the leagues top spot and for playing three great halves of battling football, however if they are to beat Larkfield to the title they must take their chances more readily. |

Man of the Match: Kane Butler
Coxheath & Farleigh resumed their winning ways against Lenham Wanderers, despite conditions windier than a weight lifter’s jock strap.
Heath took the match to Lenham from the off, pressing the play in the visitors half and repeatedly attacking the Wanderers goal. Despite many attempts, the first ten minutes remained goalless as Heath either failed to find the killer pass or were confronted by the impressive Lenham keeper.
Finally, the breakthrough came from the menacing right-winger, Kane Butler in the eleventh minute. Breaking down the wing, Butler beat the defender and hit a pinpoint shot from an acute angle, sneaking in between the keeper and the right post.
Encouraged by Butler’s success Heath stepped up a gear and displayed some splendid team football, with Midwinter & Kelley providing a solid platform at the back, releasing Page & Butler up the wings whenever in possession and supporting the two Smith’s in the centre.
Lou Page bagged the second goal, superbly executing from Butlers whipped cross in the twelfth minute.
Heath started strongly again in the second half and could have scored on several occasions if not for Lenham’s Goalkeeper, who stood his ground and expertly blocked Heath’s attempts.
The second match continued in much the same vein, although Lenham managed to make some of their counter attacking play stick, forcing Heath to concede the occasional corner.
Whilst Lenham showed grit in going forward, they remained vulnerable under attack. With Butler, Page & Smith all having attempts on goal and Osborne forcing a full length save from the keeper, tipping the ball against the post, Heath really should have scored.
The second half brought Heath fruits for their earlier labours as Robbie Smith scored from a corner. Man of the Match, Kane Butler was the provider, whipping the ball in to the near post, where Smith played a beautiful glanced header. To prove that the first was not a fluke, Butler & Smith repeated the play just two minutes later, Smith scoring from an almost identical position.
Before today, 68 points will win the league, with Heath picking up another six to reach 55 points and with eighteen points still play for; their ambition is within their grasp. |

Man of the Match: Lewis Page
Coxheath & Farleigh dropped two points after a frustrating first game against bottom placed South Park. Whilst Heath started brightly, they lost their way and failed to turn their possession into goals.
Not until the last minute of the first half was the stalemate broken, when Lewis Page exquisitely chipped the keeper from distance, cutting in from the left wing.
The second half brought more frustration for Heath as they struggled to break down the South Park defence and were caught out by some tenacious play from Park’s Connor Pearson. Having forced his way past the Heath defenders, Pearson let rip at the Heath goal, the ball bobbled under Money’s diving save and fell to George Davis who made certain by stabbing the ball over the line.
Heath piled on the pressure, throwing an extra man into the forward line. Whilst this attacking move kept the play in the South Park half, their defence and goalkeeper remained solid and repeatedly prevented Page, Smith & Osborne from snatching the elusive winning goal.
The second game brought out the best in Heath as they displayed the kind of style that has served them so well this season. Forcing South Park back from the kick off and using the width of the pitch to stretch the play. Heath scored smartly after Man-of-the Match Lewis Page crossed for Robbie Smith to plant the ball firmly in the back of the net.
Page ensured that the score was doubled just one minute later, when he cut inside from the left wing and picked out and un-marked Smith on the edge of the box, Smith instinctively struck the ball and scored his second of the match.
Lewis Page bagged his second of the morning in the sixth minute, receiving a well-executed pass from Butler; Page swivelled and shot to make it 3-0.
Heath’s bright attacking football found further reward as Butler, running the right wing, cut in and shot from an acute angle, beating the keeper at the near post.
The second half continued in the same vein as Heath pinned South Park back and laid siege on their goalmouth. Fine defending from Davis and goalkeeper Callum Keating prevented Osborne, Smith, Butler and Page from adding to their tally.
The final goal arrived in the dying moments of the match when Lewis Page rounded off a magnificent performance with his third goal of the morning. Picking up a precision pass from Robbie Smith, Page calmly and confidently stroked the ball home.
With four games left in the season Heath can still win the title, despite dropping points today, however with Swale and Larkfield providing the remaining fixtures, Heath will have to be on top form to secure that top spot. |

Man of the Match: Chandler Money
Coxheath & Farleigh entered this match at the top of the table and full of high spirits after reaching the Challenge Cup Final in last weeks win against Vinters Park, however they felt the myriad of emotions that sport can offer this morning against a tenacious six-man Swale Magpies.
Having started the first game brightly Heath went ahead through Lewis Page who picked up the ball on the half way line and glided down the left wing unopposed before beating the Swale keeper at the near post.
Swale fought strongly for the remainder of the half and denied Heath from extending the lead, indeed, their never-say-die attitude created several chances of their own as the Swale strikers held up the ball and endeavoured to bring others into attacking positions.
Heath’s trademark passing football resumed after the break and attempts on the Swale goal followed. None better that the move that brought Heath’s second goal. Smith received the ball in central midfield from Midwinter and passed out wide to Page on the left, whose precision cross found Osborne in the penalty box; Osborne trapped the ball and calmly finished from five yards out to seal the win.
Having walked off with the three points Heath were in buoyant mood, safe in the knowledge that another win today and at least a draw next week would secure the title, little were they to know what the next twenty-five minutes were to bring.
Swale pressed from the kick off in the second game, as Heath abandoned the slick passing play that has served them so well this season, preferring to lump the ball forwards at every opportunity.
The Swale forwards seized upon this uncertain and sloppy play scoring in the opening minutes. Time was on Coxheath’s side; however, the player’s minds seemed to be elsewhere as they repeatedly made simple mistakes and allowed Swales lesser numbers to dominate the play.
Whilst Heath managed to block out Swale for the remainder of the half they did not threaten at any stage, giving the Swale team the confidence to produce an even stronger display in the second half.
Further impressive play from the Swale strikers down the left wing troubled the Heath defenders and produced a free kick from some fifteen yards out. Whilst Heath will comment on the non-existent defending, the free kick was a masterful strike beating Man-of the Match Chandler Money in the top right hand corner.
Heath did not learn from these painful lessons, instead preferring to ball watch and daydream, a criminal offence against intelligent play from Swale. Just moments later the Swale midfield played a perfect trough ball to their striker, standing totally un-marked by the penalty spot, the striker swivelled and shot past the diving Chandler Money.
The six men of Swale thoroughly deserved the win, no doubt truly satisfied knowing that they have inflicted upon Coxheath their heaviest defeat of the season. Coxheath go home with their tails between their legs, rightly so, this performance is not the stuff that champions are made of. There is much sock pulling to be done before next weeks match against Larkfield, a game that will surely decide the title. COME ON COXHEATH !!!!!!!! |

Coxheath & Farleigh Clinch The Title.
Heath’s last game of the season could have not been more apt, playing against the leagues strongest opposition, Larkfield Boys, with both teams in the hunt to be crowned League Champions.
Larkfield arrived at Coxheath needing two wins, as well as three points in next weeks match against Vinters Park, to leapfrog Heath and steal the title. Heath had rather less to do, needing just two points to be certain of lifting the trophy.
Larkfield, normally strong openers at the kick off, spent the first minutes entrenched in their own half, as Heath sought to test their mettle, passing, moving and forcing corners.
Heath’s play in these opening exchanges contained some of the finest passing play this season as Larkfield threw themselves into the challenge, breaking up Heaths movement whenever possible.
Whilst Heath dominated possession, during the first half, they could not breakthrough the Larkfield defence and with the exception of R obbie Smith’s long-range shot that flew off the crossbar there were few shots that tested the keeper fully.
The second half continued in the same vein until midway through, when a Larkfield player lashed the ball forwards from the halfway line, Man of the Match Lewis Midwinter, instinctively leapt to head the goal bound effort, the ball skimmed off his forehead, looped up, behind and beyond the reach of Chandler Money standing off his goal line.
Whilst Heath battled hard to get back into the game, Larkfield controlled their defence resolutely to fend off the draw and secured the first trio of points on their wish list.
The second game produced more attacking flair from Heath although their previous domination slipped and Larkfield countered with effect, coming close on one occasion when a well struck shot from the left hit the woodwork.
The second half saw Heath move into the ascendancy as they began to take control of the game, pressurising the Larkfield defence, wining corners and striking the ball towards goal whenever possible.
In one such attack from the right wing a goal-bound shot, blocked by a Larkfield defender, spooned into the air and snuck inside the right post, Heath went one up and with their tails in the air the Heath players started to play with authority.
For the remainder of the game Larkfield’s attacks were snuffed out before they had chance to develop. Heath blocked, won the ball and countered tirelessly, constantly testing a defence who managed to hold out but could not change the score.
The ref’s whistle blew, Heath won, the crowd cheered, Jose cried and ten very happy boys ran amuck, wallowing in the pleasurable glow of being Under 9 Premier League Champions 2005-2006. Congratulations to the boys, every single one of the squad has contributed to the teams success and each can hold their head high; all the way to the Challenge Cup Final….The double is on………..Watch Out Borough Green. |

Coxheath & Farleigh win 3:1 on penalties after goalless extra time.
Coxheath & Farleigh lifted the Challenge Cup after a truly challenging final against an uncompromising Borough Green Juniors, who pushed the League Champions all the way to a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
The opening match provided a cagey start until midway through when Heath displayed a moment of team skill, quite literally passing the ball from defence through midfield and into the Green’s goal, courtesy of ace striker Robbie Smith’s finishing touch.
The second half saw Green claw their way back into the contest as they pressurised the Heath defence, during a frantic series of attempted clearances the ball fell to a Green player who swiftly dispatched his shot past the diving Money.
End to end football came thick and fast as each team sought an attempt on goal. Much of the fine attacking play was nullified by splendid defending from both teams, ensuring a draw and leaving observers none the wiser as to who would triumph.
The second match continued in a similar vein as each team battled hard, not just against each other but also the confined size of the pitch, which resulted in any slightly over weighted pass or through ball to go out of play.
This and the referees fastidious application of the throw-in rules rather disrupted the flow of the game for while, but was soon forgotten as each team threw themselves into attack with both coming close to scoring before half-time.
The final half brought further half chances and counter attacks from both teams until late in the game when Heath won a free kick on the edge of the Borough Green area. Cometh the hour cometh the man, or in this case Robbie Smith who applied a sweet right foot on a ball that lifted over the defence and beyond the keeper into the top left corner.
The Heath players celebrated what they must have felt was the winning goal, yet just as Heath thought that Green had been tucked away, Green forced a corner and struck at the near post for the equaliser.
Borough Green buoyed by taking the game into extra-time came out strongly yet found resilience in Midwinter, Kelly and Money in the Heath defence, with Money pulling off an outstanding save in the closing stages, diving full stretch to tip a shot around the post.
And so to the nerve jangling Penalty Shoot-Out. Borough Green were nominated to shoot first as the two goalkeepers gathered their thoughts. The two out-field teams gathered in the centre circle in traditional fashion and the first Green player took the lonely walk up to the penalty spot.
The first shot came and Money saved, although the referee ordered a re-take due to an infringement. The retake ended as a repeat with Money pulling off another fantastic save.
Robbie Smith stepped up to take Heath’s first penalty and scored off the left hand upright to send Heath 1:0 ahead. Green equalised from their next penalty to make it 1:1. Lewis Page came forward for Heath and smartly tucked his penalty away to the keepers left, 2:1.
Borough Green’s keeper took the next penalty and Money made another stunning save to keep the score at 2:1. William Kelly was next for Heath missing a low drive across the face of the left upright leaving the score still at 2:1.
Chandler Money again dragged his team a step closer to lifting the trophy when he saved Greens fourth penalty, which left Zach Osborne to take the penalty to win the cup. Osborne showed nerves of steel to calmly and confidently strike the ball into bottom corner.
As the referee blew the Heath players mobbed Money & Osborne and celebrated a fantastic double winning season. |
