11 Leybourne

League

Away 2 - 1 Won

Coxheath & Farleigh and Leybourne started their 1st season at 11-a-side  in a closely fought match in which both sides gave 100%.  It was Leybourne who had the better of the opening 10 minutes, but then Coxheath started putting their game together and went close on a couple of occasions.  However it was Leybourne who took the lead with an attack down the right when a misunderstanding between a Coxheath defender and their goalkeeper allowed a Leybourne forward through to give Leybourne a 1-0 half-time lead.

In the second half it was Coxheath who applied much of the pressure but still they couldn't beat the excellent Leybourne goalkeeper, until a ball was played through the middle to Jamie Blackbrow who managed to outrun the defender and slot it into the corner of the goal.  Then with ten minutes remaining a well taken corner fell to Laurie Probert who rifled the ball into the top of the Leybourne goal to give Coxheath a 2-1 opening day win and take all 3 points.  There were also excellent performances from both Sam Henley and Jack Marshall in the Coxheath team.

18 MPE League Home 8 - 2 Won

Coxheath & Farleigh went top of the U11's Premier Division after an emphatic win against a spirited MPE side.  Coxheath put MPE under pressure from the kick off and took the lead as early as the 2nd minute with a goal from Jamie Blackbrow.  Further chances came and went as Coxheath failed to make their pressure count, then midway through the 1st half MPE caught Coxheath on the break and equalized.  After 20 minutes Coxheath made 3 substitutions which immediately led to them restoring the lead thanks to a goal from Michael Holliday.

It was in the 2nd half that Coxheath really started to make their pressure count starting with a superb long range strike from William Turner.  Perry Cressey then made it 4-1 and Michael Holliday grabbed his second quickly followed by 3 more goals from Jack Baugh, another from Jamie Blackbrow, and finally the best of the match from Sam Henley.  MPE never let their heads drop throughout and their determination and spirit was rewarded with a goal in the final minute giving a final score of an 8-2 win to Coxheath.
