25 Park Regis Colts League Home 1 - 0 1 - 0 Won/Won

Game No. 1

Coxheath (1) vs Park Regis Colts (0)  - Scorer: Tim Goode

Both teams started well and after an initial early scare when the Coxheath goalie (Gus Fordham) saved bravely at the feet of the Regis forward and took a heavy knock to the forehead play settled down in what proved to be a very physical game.

From a long goal kick by Phillip Hadley the ball eluded all Park Regis players and was picked up by Tim Goode who run into the area and beat the opposing goalie high to his right hand side. (1-0 to Coxheath). With a solid defence and holding midfield player we continued to dominate. Shortly afterwards a late tackle by a Regis Player saw Phillip Hadley carried off with an ankle injury.

New players were introduced and for a while we with stood some pressure. In the second half the game continued to be dominated by Coxheath and with a bit more luck we should have had a second goal.

An excellent performance from all Coxheath players.

Game No. 2

Coxheath (1) vs Park Regis Colts (0)  - Scorer: Matthew Hazelwood

Substitutions were made by both managers for the second game and both teams played some good team football with the defence giving solid performances.

Once again scoring chances proved to be hard to come by and the introduction of Alex Smitherman on the right midfield gave Coxheath that little extra width and the game started to open up and a good solid run by Harry LIbbetter out of defence almost provided the opening goal. Regis continued to attack down the left flank through their captain and the Coxheath goalie needed to be alert.

In the second half another long goal kick by Phillip Hadley once again provided the goal scoring opportunity for Matthew Hazelwood to score with a right foot shot. (1-0 to Coxheath). A second goal was almost scored by Dominic Baker but unfortunately he lost his footing at the vital moment. With time running out Regis broke down the middle and they were only denied the equaliser as a result of a splendid save by Gus Fordham.

Man of the Match:

A number of players put in solid performances in both games but this week it was awarded to Alex Smitherman who dispute not being a regular player in the starting team gave a good solid performance when called upon as substitute.

9 Sissinghurst League Away 0 - 2 2 - 2 Lost/Draw
Game 1

This proved as expected to be a very competitive and tight game with both teams showing there attacking skills and both defences had to be at there very best and once again Harry Libbeter Harry Goode and Phillip Hadley proved to be very solid until just before half time when Sissinghurst broke down the left and a strong shot took at wicked deflection to leave Gus Fordham stranded (1-0 to Sissinghurst).

In the second half the game was marred by a very serious eye injury to Harry Goode who was caught in the eye by a high kick. This resulted in a 1 inch deep cut just below the eye and necessitated treatment on the field by the Coxheath Manager. Having stemmed the flow of blood due to the locality of the cut in relation to the eye the Ambulance was called and in totally the game was delayed for about 5o minutes whilst Harry was treated both on and off the field.

At this point the result seemed immaterial and Sissinghurst went on to score a late second goal.

Game 2:

After reshuffling the team due to the earlier injury and also the effect on Harry's brother Tim who was to upset to play the second game. The Coxheath Boys took to the field and put up what can only be described as a resolute performance with both Alex White and then Matthew Hazelwood scoring goals to put Coxheath within 2 minutes of an excellent victory against a well organised Sissinghurst team. A late equaliser once again denied us all 3 points.

The overall performance was one that the team can take great pride in after playing such good football following the earlier serious injury to one of their friends which played on all their minds including supporters and parents alike.

Man of the Match:

There could only be one Man of the Match and this was presented to Harry Goode sisters to pass on to Harry when he returned home from Hospital.

15 Borough Green Youth Cup Home 1 - 0 2 - 1 Won/Won
Scorers:    Tim Goode,  Dominic Baker, Matthew Hazelwood

Game No. 1

Coxheath (1) v Borough Green Youth (0)  - Scorer: Tim Goode

It was important to get off to a flying start and this we did after some good interchanging of the ball in midfield the ball was pumped into the box where Tim Goode round the Borough Green keeper and slotted home for his  10th goal of the season. 1-0 to Coxheath after 2 minutes. However this did not open the flood gates and a lot of the time Coxheath found themselves putting up a stern and resolute defence and relied on some excellent goal keeping from Gus Fordham. In the second half substitutions were made and once again we were forced to defend with the occasion quick break from defence.

Game No. 2

Coxheath (2) v Borough Green Youth (1) - Scores: Dominic Baker and Matthew Hazelwood.

Substitutions were made for the second game and once again Coxheath relied to much on the defence to give a solid performance and the attacks were few and far between and by now The Coxheath manager was beginning to bite his nails looking for the all important second goal to relieve the pressure from the constant threat of the attacking process of the boys in Green.

Suddenly from a long ball Dominic Baker picked the ball up and ran on before striking a solid left foot drive beyond the advancing keeper (2-0), and you could hear the mangers huge sigh of relief.

At the start of the second half we reverted to the original starting 7 and it was in this half that the quality football was played, although Anthony Tring was made to produce One outstanding save when a goal looked certain diving sharp to his left and pushing the ball out.

Still The Green were not beaten and eventually pulled a well deserved goal back from some for once sloppy defending, which meant an exciting final 5 minutesas they pushed for the equaliser.

Coxheath were still not finished and from a corner on the right hand side the ball found Matt Hazelwood and after a goal mouth scramble he forced the ball over the line (2-1).

Man of The Match:

A number of players put in solid performances in both games but this week but it was awarded to Dominic Baker who dispute not being a regular player in the starting team came on as a sub and scored the all important second goal which gave us a bit of breathing space..

Managers Comment:

Congratulations to all the boys for putting in a battling performance and progressing to the last 8 of the consolation cup for the first time; an achievement in itself and a sign of just how much the team has improved. Well done to all the boys!
