 Under 8's Final

Score: 2-1 (SPR)

Coxheath & Farleigh had been strong all morning and had deservedly won their place in the final after a hard fought semi in which they beat MPE with a golden goal.

Coxheath started the final very well but never seemed able to get any shots on goal, whereas SPR had plenty of chances on the break but they were unable to convert any of them. Midway through the first half the deadlock was broken by Kane Butler giving the goalkeeper no chance and the reds the boost they needed. After the goal SPR began to wake up and had some good opportunities in the rest of the half.

From the start of the second half Coxheath were forced to defend by a refreshed SPR team. Soon after the restart, SPR got the long awaited goal that they had been threatening to score since the break. A strong, high shot giving Chandler Money in goal no chance.

The match finished 1-1 and was to be settled with a golden goal. From the kick-off Coxheath attacked hard, but couldn't penetrate the SPR defence, making for a very competitive finish. The match ended towards the end of extra time with a scrambled goal from SPR against the run of play.

Under 9's Final

Score: 1-0 (Larkfield)

Larkfield started the game as they wished to go on - with perfect passing and a shot at every opportunity. They played with skill well above their age and above their opponents. But their performance fluctuated often giving Borough Green a good share of the ball. The half ended with neither team having any good goal scoring opportunities.

Seconds after the second half started, Larkfield had a free kick in good shooting range and they took the opportunity well, only denied by a great Borough Green save. Minutes later Larkfield's Danny Moore was making a break through the Borough Green defence, passing the defenders in his stride. A quick 1, 2 move put him clear on goal. He netted the ball with great confidence and no chance of a save. After the goal Borough Green perked up with a good break but it was not enough to make any difference to the score.

Under 10's Final

Score: 0-0 (Bearsted on pens)

The match started as it finished - with a deadlock and very little goal scoring opportunities. This was due to some great defending - especially from Bearsted. The main chance of the half was from Coxheath midfielder Tyler Money with a very good shot that ended up only inches from the goal.

The second half was dominated by a very strong Coxheath side. Again, the best chance came from Tyler Money - this time denied only by the woodwork. Neither team looked like scoring throughout; making penalties a chilling thought.

Extra time arrived and Coxheath dominated once again and had two very good chances soon after the kick-off, but no one was able to score the golden goal. Bearsted quickly replied with a great break, that somehow didn't finish with a goal. Extra time finished with the deadlock the game started with - it was to be settled by penalties.

Penalties arrived and the deadlock continued, four penalties were taken by each team - and they were still equal! The tension mounted as 9 sudden death strikes still hadn't found a winner, on the 10th strike Coxheath slipped up - handing the game to Bearsted in an instant.

Both keepers kept their respective teams in the game throughout and the Bearsted full back William Thew made his skill and talent known.

Under 11's Final

Score: 2-0 (Blue Eagles)

Both teams started the game very strongly but Coxheath seemed to have goal scoring opportunities, only stopped by some superb goalkeeping from the Blue Eagles keeper. The half evolved into a very competitive game, with some great football from both sides and some especially good defending from the Blue's. Both teams had a fair share of the shots towards the end of the half - none of which were converted to goals.

The second half was dominated by a refreshed Blue Eagles team. A few minutes into the half, Sam Carter of Blue Eagles scored a very good goal that was not going to be saved by anyone. The game continued still with some great skill, but began to quieten down - mainly because Coxheath couldn't get anywhere near their opponents goal due to some superb defending. A good move forward by Blue Eagles was rewarded by a second great goal scored by Charlie Smith putting the game out of reach. The remaining 30 seconds of the game finished without a hitch!

The Staff...

The volunteers who helped at the tournament are the people that made the day work as well as it did, from car parking to catering, and a bit of football too, the day went off (almost) without a hitch. Special thanks have to go to Andy Marling who took charge of organising the event and taking it up to the standard it was. Chris Endersby who, as always, put in hour after hour of hard work to make the tournament a success. Colin Sutcliffe for providing the food and drink. Steve Huckstepp for running his highly successful penalty competition again this year. The Catering team for the barbeques. Lastly the referees, who were on their feet all day and never stopped, from the first games at 9am to the very last at 7.30pm! Well done to you all!
